SkyWest Airlines Manager of Quality Control in SAN LUIS OBISPO, California

Primary Job Duties

As the Manager of Quality Control, you will be responsible for the direction and supervision of all Inspectors, Designated Inspectors, and Receiving Inspectors at a specific maintenance facility. (Non-Delegable)

  • Ensure that all aircraft maintenance performed is accomplished in accordance with manufacturers’ data, company requirements, and applicable FAA regulations before release of the aircraft

  • Ensure that all aircraft released for service are airworthy and that all applicable inspections and checks have been completed

  • Determine if any uncompleted inspection or check can be carried forward or held over and in such cases make the final airworthiness decision

  • Ensure that all aircraft, engine, instrument parts, and components received by the Supply Department are inspected prior to being placed in stock service

  • Settle controversies between Inspectors and other personnel whenever possible

  • Ensure that all personnel assigned to Quality Control are properly trained and are performing their inspection duties properly

  • Reviews and audits all aircraft records from the specific facility to ensure that proper corrective action has been taken

  • Ensures that all precision measuring and testing equimpent at the specific facility are properly calibrated and conducts periodic audits of tools and records at the facilities for which he/she is responsible

  • Ensures that all company manuals issued to the maintenance facility are kept to the latest revision and are being utilized by maintenance personnel

  • Reviews the maintenance program and procedures for adequacy and recommends changes

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality, or Senior Manager, or Quality Control (Base and Line)

  • Is responsible to the Senior Manager of Quality Contol (Base and Line)

  • Authorized to perform OJT instruction and determine student’s level of understanding and aptitude during OJT

  • May delegate duties and authorities, unless specifically stated otherwise, IAW General Maintenance Manual (GMM)

Minimum Requirements

  • Hold a valid A&P Certificate

  • Familiar with Inspection and Maintenance Procedures

  • Must be able to work unsupervised and be a self-starter

  • Must have good attendance and a strong work ethic

  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills

  • Must have excellent communication and people skills

  • Problem solving and organizational skills are required

  • Is very conscientious and thorough in work habits

  • Exercises good judgement in working with people as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety

  • Has a thorough knowledge of GMM Policy and Procedures

  • Familiar with Federal Aviation Regulations

  • Level 3 preferred
